Foretab indexes publicly available US state liquor license records and presents them in a dashboard for sales and business development use. This page explains how we source records, what we include and exclude, and how coverage decisions are made.
1. Source records
We obtain license records directly from US state and, in Nevada's case, municipal alcoholic beverage control (ABC) authorities. These are government-published records, made publicly available under each state's public records law. We do not obtain records from data brokers, data resellers, commercial aggregators, or any non-governmental source.
2. Record contents
Records in Foretab reflect what the issuing ABC authority has published: business name, address, license type, license number, issue date, and expiry or status date. Where the state includes it on the face of the license, Foretab also displays the name of the principal, officer, or licensee of record.
We do not enrich, append, supplement, or cross-reference this information with data from any other source. Phone numbers, email addresses, and social media profiles are not sourced or displayed. Where a record includes the name of a natural person, that information appears in the form the state published it — we do not maintain consumer profiles, household data, geolocation history, or any other category of information about those individuals beyond what the issuing agency published on the license.
Foretab does not include a column indicating how a particular state record was accessed or obtained. We also do not attempt to map license status values to inferred operating or business status — a record marked "active" reflects the state's published license status as of the date we last refreshed the record, not a determination that the business is currently operating.
3. Business classification
We use an AI classifier to assign each record a business archetype (bar, restaurant, package store, brewery, and so on) and a signal strength (New, Established, or Dormant) based on the record's publicly available attributes. These classifications are model predictions, not authoritative determinations. The originating state record governs; you should verify any classification that informs a material business decision.
4. State coverage
Foretab covers nine states at launch: Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, New York, and Pennsylvania. We add a state only after confirming we can use its public license data lawfully and for commercial purposes, so coverage grows deliberately rather than all at once. 5. Data freshness
Freshness indicators in the Foretab dashboard show when Foretab last refreshed the underlying data from the originating state agency — not when the state itself last updated the record. The originating agency may have older information that has not yet been updated at the source, or may have made changes that have not yet propagated to Foretab.
Foretab checks all nine states daily. Most update their public records frequently; some publish on a slower cycle, and our daily check adds new license records from each state as the state publishes them.
